This Journal contains thoughts from my own mind. As such be prepared for weirdness, pointless rubbish and things not making much sense.

If you think you can handle that then Hello and welcome!

Can't say much about 2011, was kinda, meh overall.

There were a few hi lights, most noteably:

Confuzzled : A lot of fun, great to see the_gneech in the UK at last and I'm finally starting to get to know a wider group of people well enough to be able to find people to talk to at these things, rather than hide in a corner, or cling to one or two people.

Eurofurence : Also a great deal of fun, and similar to the post above. Meeting schnee in person was great. Also good in the fact that it was my first solo trip in a non English speaking nation and I managed to successfully navigate the train system between cities (ok, discovering that by chance I'd booked the same flight/train as a dozen or so other UK furies helped there quite a lot :P .

Second Life: Over this last year I've met a few new people through SL, or acquaintances have become good friends. One person in particular, who I've been spending a great deal more time with the last couple of months, and enjoying it immensely. With my shyness and lack of social interaction usually, this is a good thing.

On the other hand I have also noticed this year how crap I am at keeping in touch with people after I meet them (Oh I should say hi, but I don't know them THAT well... I don't want to pester, oh but I should say hi, but what if they think I'm pestering them too much... oh I'll say hi later.... oh they've gone....) Also how rubbish I am at keeping in touch with people who for one reason or another chance their social pattern and for example, don't log in at the same time as they used too.

I've also noticed a tendency to leap into things and perhaps get involved in too many things at the same time, leaving me not enough time to do any of them properly, and this can't help with the keeping in touch with people either. Over the last few months I've dropped a couple of things that were causing me more stress than was worth it for what I was getting out of them, the Scout District Executive Committee comes to mind.

I think one of my major social issues stems from my high school days, without going into emo whineyness, I was never part of any "crowd" at school, even with the people I got on best with, I was sorta on the edge, and if someone else wandered in I got brushed off. I think this has left me massively over-sensitive to any perceived rejection or not being included, I can be very over-sensitive and overreact when nothing is meant.

Most of the rest of the negatives this year are general stuff that will be effecting everyone, the economy and so on, which I don't plan on going into detail over.

Aaaanyway,

I don't usually go in for new year resolutions, but this year I have a few.

1) Loose some weight, starting now. (starting weight 130kg, 286.6lb)
2) Keep in better touch with friends, Update LJ more, Comment more when I read LJ, twitter & forums, e-mail, IM more people than just the usual two or three.
3) Try and meet up with more people in RL, not just through a computer screen.
4) Be more sociable in general, including at work.
5) Don't commit to so many things, but put more into those I do.

So there we go, a mixed bag of a year. While "years" are just artificial things anyway (Time is one piece, not chunks) It does make a convenient point or reference, so 2012, lets go for more of the positive and less of the negative hmm? ;)

Hmmm..... I need to start thinking of upcoming conventions.

I have my room & room mate sorted out for Eurofurence, just need to organise travel (I'm currently trying to find a way to transport clothes and fursuit in a single case....)

I'm also planning on MFF this year.... but I have nothing organised for that at all. Travel for that should be pretty straightforward, I've flown in and out of O'Hare several time. I need a room though, anyone who knows about MFF know if I'm cutting it close for getting one? Anyone know about available spaces?

I'll say now.... Due to past experiences, and my general shyness, I'm very wary of sharing with people I don't know, or who don't have a solid, verifiable reputation...

Anyone got advice/suggestions?

People who've known me for a while will probably have noticed I have these ups and downs, for a while I'll be energetic, enthusiastic and happy, then something triggers a down slope and I get stuck in a trough where I'm lacking motivation, have no energy, just cant work up the will to get things done and generally become moody and introverted. The last few weeks I seem to have dropped into one of those troughs.

Usually I kind of withdraw, stop posting to LJ, until I start climbing out of it. That doesn't achieve much though to be honest. This time I'm going to try and make an effort to lift myself out of it, instead of just waiting it out. So to that end I'm making a do list of things I need or want to get done, I'm not going to follow it in any particular order, just throw myself at whichever one seems to click at the time. From experience that's the key to getting myself out of the trough, find a task that "clicks" and I get drawn into and my energy levels, motivation and mood start to rise and I can much more easily switch to other things that need my attention.

So to that end, here's the current list, from the top of my head. It may grow as I think of things :P

1) Get Canis's character reference write-up finished
1a) Send completed reference to artist 1 I commissioned.
1b) Send completed reference to artist 2 I commissioned.

2) Get short character description and photographs of Canis (fursuit) ready and sent to lupestripe for his charity fursuiting project.

3) Create updated personal record cards for Cub Scouts, so I can get all their information in one place.

4) Get a rough plan of Cub Scout programme completed covering up to Christmas.

5) Make a detailed programme for Cub Scouts up to the end of October.

6) Deal with paperwork and training issues for other Leaders in the Scout group.

7) Get in touch with my bank and shuffle some things around.

8) Speak to O about summer trip, and decide which plan I'm going to go for
8a) Speak to relevant people about final plan, and have arrangements complete by Christmas.

9) Look into dates & flights for possible visit to deluphusin

10) Get handwritten notes of my two in progress furry stories typed up and beta read.

What celebrity or politician would you most wish to get stuck in an elevator with for two hours? What burning question would you ask them?

I think probably Stephen Fry, he's intelligent, articulate, has great depth of knowledge and is just fascinating and entertaining to listen to in any show he appears on. I'd also be very interested to hear his views on furries. :P

Here in Nebraska and having a good time, went out to a wildlife park this morning with Red ......I have a curse when it comes to wolves.

My fursona is a red wolf, I've been fascinated with wolves since I was a child, but despite trying I've never actually seen one in the flesh. When I went to Yellowstone I heard them in the distance, that was wonderful, but I never saw them. When I went to Chester Zoo I found that they'd been moved to another zoo a few weeks before, when I went to the national zoo in Washington the wolves were hiding.

They were hiding today as well, there was tree felling going on in the wolf enclosure and no sign of them, on the way out we asked at the gift shop if the wolves were locked away while the felling was on, they said no, the wolves were out. So we went back for a second try, after walking around the enclosure finally, we spotted one in the bushes, a few minutes later two of them were playing tag through the undergrowth and sniffing around the open grass area.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! *bouncebouncebounce*

My curse is broken, finally, I've seen wolves ^^

Also saw buffalo, elk, whitetail, a black bear and other critters ^^

The park was als the first place I've ever seen that sells red wolf plushies..... so I bought one ^^
